Hi Folks, the last time I sent out this request for your help, it all came in too late.
I'm in the top ten again for a caption contest based on Prince Caspian. Most of the other jokers are all Northerners and they have a hard time accepting that a contender from Knoxville actually has a sense of humor.

Tennessee GOP: Remember Andrew Jackson

The Tennessee GOP has started its Fall campaign on Obama by attacking his wife Michelle for her “proud of America” remarks. They must figure that it’s easier to attack a candidate’s spouse rather than go for the main contender. It’s discourteous and one that is reminiscent of the 1828 attacks against Andy Jackson’s wife Rachel. The Republicans were soundly defeated in that campaign, partly due to Jackson’s immense popularity and the distasteful attacks against his wife.

It remains to be seen if history will repeat itself, but throughout the nomination process, trying to beat Obama with personal attacks instead of policy arguments has all but failed. GOP Tennesseans may feel they were being patriotic in singling out Michelle Obama for their initial attack ads, but this will only increase Obama’s popularity and make Tennessean Republicans look paltry.

If McCain has any spine, he will condemn these spurious attacks and call to make political spousal abuse off limits for both parties. Politics is an ugly business, but drive-by slurs only makes the perpetrators look even uglier in the eyes of voting citizens.

The dynamic duo of Knoxville political talk radio, Lloyd Daugherty and Kelvin Moxley, are back on the air today. The fun begins for two hours daily at 10.00AM over at WQBB 1040AM.

Just when Knox County officials and commissioners thought the coast was clear, the lads return with The Voice, sometimes known as Radio Free Knoxville, to bring political accountability back to the airwaves.

Move over Triple H, the boys are back in town. Frank Cagle and a whole slate of regular guests will be joining them. Listeners and callers from all over the region can love local talk show radio once again.

130 years old – and still growing strong

Despite being a part of the liberal PCUSA, Erin Presbyterian Church in Knoxville is still growing. Why? It’s because we preach and practice the Gospel. The denomination may be trying to appease the politically correct and losing its identity through endorsing multi-cultural beliefs, but we hold dear the basics of Presbyterian and Reformed Christianity: that Christ is our Lord; we are all sinners; and Jesus is the only Savior of the world. Other churches may go down the slippery slope of placating current trends and adopting worldly ways, but Erin’s Scots-Irish tenacity enables it to stay the course that Christ requires.

Erin Presbyterian - West Knoxville's Oldest Church is 130 years old this weekend

There's a balloonfest at Pellissippi; a Greekfest on Kingston Pike; and in the Bearden community, Erin Presbyterian celebrates 130 years.



All friends and members of Erin, all families who have a connection to Erin are welcome to attend the special celebration during worship on Sunday Sep 30, 2007 at 11.00am. Ella Grace Levering will be baptized, whose family includes six generations of Erin church members.
